What is the Persian Gulf Registry?
The VA Persian Gulf Registry program was established to help veterans who served in the recent military conflict in the Persian Gulf and who are now concerned about the possible long-term health consequences of exposure to various environmental hazards. Veterans who participate in this voluntary program are given a comprehensive medical examination. Data gathered during these examinations will be carefully analyzed by scientists searching for clues about any medical problems experienced by Persian Gulf veterans.
What should you do if you feel you may have been exposed to any environmental or chemical contaminants during your service in the Persian Gulf?
Seek medical care at the nearest VA medical center. A Veterans Benefits Counselor at the medical center may be available to assist you with VA benefits information and claims assistance. If he or she is not available when you visit, you may also contact your local VA Regional Office toll free at 800-827-1000 for more information.
